Long Jing

One of the most famous of Chinese green teas, and indeed of Chinese teas altogether, Long Jing is a pinnacle of the refinement that has been going on for centuries in tea, and this Long Jing is itself a further refinement of the varietal (often translated as Dragonwell), boasting a balanced, sweet flavour in addition to its characteristic vegetal and chestnut notes.

It is sourced from a small Zhejiang green tea plantation located in the gorgeous environment of the Thousands Island Lake.

With multiple pluckings, the later harvest has been given a stronger roasting, to release the toasty, nutty, and caramelly notes within, a tasty complement to the vegetal sweetness and typical chestnut note of the cultivar. With enough backbone to accompany biscuits for the afternoon tea lover, it’s nuanced enough to make that afternoon tea a real treat.

Younger leaves from the same plantation are given a lighter roasting as our Floral Long Jing, for a more delicate brew.

  • Quantity: 2g / 150ml
  • Water temperature: 80°C

For best results in gongfu cha, brew in a tall glass and fill with water before adding the leaves. Too high water temperature would burn the leaves, resulting in bitter taste.
